Sapphire Glass: It is extraordinarily scratch-resistant with a has a value of 9 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness. Sapphire is the 2nd hardest natural substance next to diamonds. Its fracture toughness is around 4 times greater than that of Gorilla Glass. Sapphire glass is also clearer than glass and has less glare.

This dial has a couple of little cracks in the enamel, results of thermal stress inherent in the process of fusing vitreous enamel to gold and silver at high temperatures. Naturally I would prefer that the enamel was technically perfect but that will answer the question of why the piece is so inexpensive in such a fine collectible watch. If you look at the tail and feet, you may be able to see the stress cracks. They aren’t going any where but I wanted you to be aware of them
